June 2016 – Granherne extends Bombora-ESP contract for INPEX Ichthys Phase 2a Pre-FEED Studies ("Studies Lite Part 2")

Following the successful concept studies, Granherne has re-engaged Bombora-ESP to provide Pre-FEED support to Ichthys Phase 2a. The work will see Bombora-ESP team members provide further engineering definition in readiness for FEED in 2017.

Bombora-ESP supports BHPB Brownfields Project Team with Subsea Engineering and Client Representative support for the tie back of two new subsea wells to existing NWS infrastructure.

April 2016 – Bombora-ESP continues to support Granherne with Confidential Feasibility Studies

 

Bombora-ESP has been engaged by Granherne to examine subsea tie-back options for confidential NWS project.

Bombora’s scope of work will be to examine rigid vs flexibles, identify construction options, develop preliminary layouts for the various options and provide input to cost and schedule estimates.

March 2016 – Bombora-ESP supports Granherne / Jacobs with a Novel Offloading Facility

 

Bombora-ESP have been engaged (through Granherne) to provide a 3rd party review of structural fatigue analysis of an offloading structure; where offshore jacket design and installation methods have been used to construct an offloading wharf.

The four week design review will see Bombora’s Senior Structural Engineering Consultant seconded into the clients team to perform the review.

February 2016 – Bombora-ESP investigates novel lateral buckling initiator designs

Bombora-ESP has commenced a number of studies examining alternative lateral buckling mitigation devices, with the aim of increasing reliability, whilst minimising operational strains and fatigue damage. Based on these studies Bombora-ESP hopes to release a number of technical papers in the near future.

January 2016 – Bombora-ESP develops in-house capabilities

Bombora-ESP has commenced a programme to enhance/develop internal software to widen Bombora’s existing suite of software. This software will allow Bombora-ESP to better support its clients across a number of disciplines, including subsea pipelines, subsea structures, installation, onshore pipelines, integrity.

November 2015 – Bombora-ESP provides specialist support for INPEX Ichthys Phase 2a Concept Studies ("Studies Lite Part 1")

After a successful Concept select Phase further work has been awarded to examine the Phase 2a scope in further detail. Bombora-ESP personnel will be involved in the providing the following:

  • Materials and Welding support, examining linepipe supply options to improve integrity and installability;
  • Lateral buckling analysis, examining alternative solutions (e.g. ZRB) as well as the influence of uneven seabed, alternative materials (e.g. seamless linepipe), etc.
  • On-bottom roughness analysis, examining the influence of mobile sand-waves; and
  • Construction / installation engineering support, developing construction and installation strategies for the SURF system.

 

June 2015 – BHPB extends Bombora-ESP Contract for Brownfields Subsea Engineering Support Services

Following the successful Select Phase study program BHPB has re-engaged Bombora-ESP to provide Subsea Engineering services to the Brownfields project team.  The work will continue throughout the next 12 Months.

 

January 2015 – Bombora-ESP supports Granherne on CononoPhillips Barossa Studies

Bombora-ESP has been awarded a contract to provide project management, pipeline and construction engineering expertise for the ConocoPhillips Barossa Feasibility Studies. Bombora’s scope of work is to:

  • Perform preliminary export pipeline design, addressing mechanical design, routing, layouts, on-bottom stability, construction/installation, pre-commissioning, IMMR and operational pigging;
  • Develop a mid line tie-in concept (examining options such as hot-tapping and isolation plugging along with hyperbaric welding or mechanical connectors / tee)
  • Provide Cost and schedule estimates
  • Project manage the Granherne’s scope of work, which also includes
    • Flow assurance studies, steady state analysis (line size selection) and transient analysis (slugging predictions)
    • Process / facilities (onshore slug catcher preliminary sizing)

 

January 2015 – Bombora-ESP supports BHPB Brownfields Project Team with NWS Abandonment Studies

Bombora-ESP is supporting the BHPB Brownfields Project Team with abandonment studies for assets on the North West Shelf.

August 2014 – Bombora-ESP supports Granherne with INPEX Phase 2 Studies

Bombora-ESP has been engaged by Granherne to assist with a concept select study for the Phase 2 of the Ichthys Gas Field Development.

The six month study will examine multiple development concepts and phasing options, grouped within a number of themes.

Bombora-ESP’s scope is to provide URF engineering and installation expertise to the project.

July 2014 – Bombora-ESP supports ConocoPhillips with Installation Management on the Bayu-Undan Phase 3 Project

Bombora-ESP has agreed a contract with ConocoPhillips to provide construction management expertise on the Bayu-Undan Phase 3 Project.

For the Phase 3 development, two new subsea wells have been identified and will be tied back to existing Drilling Production and Processing Platform (DPP) through individual subsea flowlines and risers. An umbilical riser shall be routed from DPP topsides to a Subsea Umbilical Distribution Unit (SUDU) near to the base of the platform, but outside of the flare radiation zone, from where two umbilical’s shall route one each to BU-DS01 and BU-DS02 running roughly parallel with the flowlines.

Bombora-ESP’s role is to support ConocoPhillips with the management of the EPIC Installation Contract, awarded to Subsea 7 whose Scope of Work includes subsea hardware design, flowlines, umbilical and riser system installation engineering, procurement, Installation and Pre-Commissioning / Commissioning.

June 2014 – Bombora-ESP provides Facilitation Support to MWH Global, Roy Hill Mine

Bombora-ESP has been engaged to provide facilitation services to MWH Global for their work on the Roy Hill Mine Water Services Project.

Under a contract to Roy Hill Infrastructure, MWH Global are to design, construct and commission a water supply scheme conveying water to the various points of use in the Roy Hill iron ore mining area.

Bombora-ESP’s scope includes the facilitation of various HAZOPs, a Safety in Design workshop and a constructability workshop.

May 2014 – Bombora-ESP provides specialist support to Atteris

Bombora-ESP has been engaged to provide specialist pipeline expertise services to Atteris for their work on a confidential North West Shelf Project.

A NWS Operator is investigating deepwater and shallow water compression options for field life extension. The existing pipeline does not include any shallow water facilities to permit the tie-in of a compression platform. Atteris has been engaged to undertake a feasibility study on possible isolation technologies and tie-in architecture for this location.

Bombora-ESP’s role is to provide expertise on hot-tapping (diver and diverless), hyperbaric welding and pipeline isolation technologies.

April 2014 – Bombora-ESP provides Decommissioning Support to BHPBP for Griffin

Bombora-ESP has been engaged by BHPB to assist with project definition for the abandonment of the Griffin Field.

The Griffin Field comprises a number of drill-centres with a total of twelve wellheads. The infield flowline system between the wellheads and the FPSO is extensive and consists primarily of flexible product with some rigid tie-in spools and flowlines. In addition to oil export via off-take tanker, the field had the capacity to export gas via an 8-inch gas sales export pipeline which extends approximately 62km to the landfall South West of Onslow.

BHP Billiton Pty Ltd (BHPB) intends to decommission the Griffin field and surrender the associated Production and Pipeline Licenses. As there are significant facilities in the field the process of abandonment is a complex issue requiring extensive environmental consideration and data collection as well as a large amount of engineering input.

March 2014 – Bombora-ESP Announces New Office Location

Bombora-ESP is pleased to announce that it has agreed terms with SMEC for the rental of office space at 306 Murray Street, Perth CBD.

The office complex, part of the Raine Square development is a modern facility, ideally located close to Bombora-ESP’s clients.

The new location will allow Bombora-ESP to provide a better service to its clients and will provide a spring board for the company’s ambitious growth plans over the coming years.

February 2014 – Bombora-ESP undergoes a Change of Ownership

Oceanuity Pty Ltd is pleased to announce the acquisition of Bombora-ESP’s business following a mediated sale process.

Oceanuity Pty Ltd shall build on the success of Bombora-ESP to date by trading the company as Bombora-ESP.

The new ownership will allow Bombora-ESP to begin a new chapter in its growth and development

January 2014 – Bombora-ESP supports S2V on Occidental Project

Bombora-ESP has been engaged by S2V Consulting to assist with the detailed design scope of work on the Idd El Shargi North Dome (ISND), Phase 5 Project.

Occidental Petroleum Qatar who operate the ISND field, located in the Persian Gulf have awarded S2V the FEED for the Phase 5 works and the detailed design of the Phase 5, Campaign 1 works. The ISND oil production field consists of a bridge linked production station together with numerous remote wellhead jackets in shallow water (~35m). Phase 5 of the field development program for ISND includes several water Injection, gas lift and production pipelines.

Bombora-ESP will personnel to supplement the engineering team, who will be responsible for the fast-track detailed design of 14 rigid risers.

May 2013 – Bombora-ESP supports NWS Operator with a Decommissioning Study

Bombora-ESP has won a contract with a NWS Operator to produce a Decommissioning Study.

The Phase 1 study will identify and screen decommissioning options, highlighting for the various options:

  • Key Issues (environmental, safety, etc);

  • Schedule Drivers;

  • Opportunity Drivers; and

  • An estimate on the cost and schedule

  • The study will be used by the Operator to progress into a concept select phase.

April 2013 - Bombora-ESP provides Design Support to Sea Trucks Group for Murphy Oil Corp’s Kikeh FPSO Retrofit Project

Sea Trucks Group was awarded a scope of work to load-out, transport and lift two modules (an accommodation module and a separator module) onto the Kikeh FPSO. The scope of work is part of the Kikeh FPSO retrofit project designed to allow the introduction of fluids from the Siakap North-Petai field off the coast of Malaysia in the South China Sea.

In turn Bombora-ESP was engaged by Sea Trucks Group, to produce sea-fastening drawings in support of the contracted scope of work.

The scope was executed in April 2013 using the heavy lift vessel Jascon 25.

March 2013 - Bombora-ESP provides Construction Management Support for BHPBP on the Pyrenees Expansion Project

Bombora-ESP has won a contract with BHP Billiton Petroleum to provide construction and project engineering support for the Pyrenees Expansion Project. The development located approximately 45km Northwest of Exmouth, offshore Western Australia in approximately 200m of water, will see the Upper Pyrenees and Moondyne fields tied back to the existing Pyrenees FPSO.

SapuraClough have been awarded the Subsea Transportation and Installation Scope of work which consists of heavy lift transportation, installation, and pre-commissioning of the manifolds, riser, flow lines, jumpers, umbilicals, and interconnecting flying leads. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

February 2013 - Bombora-ESP provides Construction Management Support for Global Offshore on Woodside’s Greater Western Flank

Bombora-ESP has won a contract with Global Offshore to provide Construction Management support for the Greater Western Flank, Phase 1 (GWF-1) pipeline installation.

The GWF area is located approximately 130km north-west of Karratha in Western Australia and constitutes 16 undeveloped fields. GWF-1 consists of a tie-back of the Goodwyn GH and Tidepole fields (in 70-130m of water) to the existing Goodwyn A (GWA) platform through a 16km long, 16-inch CRA lined pipeline. Remaining fields will be developed in subsequent phases at later stages.

Technip’s wholly owned subsidiary Global Offshore. was awarded a pipeline installation contract by Woodside for the GWF-1 Project. Global’s contract with Woodside includes the load out, transportation and installation of the production pipeline from Goodwyn GH and Tidepole fields to the GWA platform. Pipelay will be performed using the deepwater derrick pipelay vessel Global 1200, the first time Technip or Global Offshore have laid rigid pipe in Australian waters.

Technip’s operating centre in Perth, Australia is executing the contract, with the support from the Singapore office. Bombora-ESP’s role is to provide construction management support to Global, bringing to the table a wealth of experience in rigid pipelay and construction in Australian waters.

January 2013 - Bombora-ESP provides Construction Management Support to BHP Billiton for Macedon Phase 2

Bombora-ESP have commenced work on Client Representative Duties for BHPB’s Macedon Phase 2 Project. BHPB is developing the Macedon Gas Field to produce and deliver gas to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas pipeline. The Macedon and adjacent Pyrenees fields are located offshore in production license WA-42-L, which is situated in the North Carnarvon basin, approximately 100km west of Onslow and 40km north of Exmouth, Western Australia. 

In 2012 the 20-inch wet gas pipeline was commenced using the pipelay vessel DB30. The pipeline was laid in two sections, the “inshore” section KP 66.511 to KP 76.660, and the “offshore” section, KP 55.558 to KP 0. These sections along with the subsea facilities at KP 0 formed the first phase of the project. The Macedon Phase 2 scope includes laying of the infill pipe section from KP 66.511 to KP 55.558 (some 11km). The works include an above water tie-in utilizing a davit lift at KP 55.558. Phase 2 works will utilize the DB30 derrick laybarge. The project is expected to be complete by the end of May.

September 2012 - Bombora-ESP provides Technical Authorities for INPEX's, Ichthys Project.

Bombora-ESP is supporting Granherne with the provision of Technical Authorities for a number of Ichthys Project audits.

The various internal audits will ensure that technical integrity processes are being followed by the various project package teams:

    • Gas Export Pipeline (GEP),
    • Umbilical, Risers and Flowlines (URF),
    • Subsea Production System (SPS),
    • Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO); and
    • Central Processing Facility (CPF).

To support Granherne / INPEX in the execution of these audits, which will be performed through the various project phases (detailed design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning),  Bombora-ESP will supply pipeline/subsea expertise to act as project independent Technical Authorities for INPEX.

August 2012 - PTTEP Australia awards Bombora-ESP a contract to develop Subsea and Pipeline Standards.

Bombora-ESP has been awarded a contract by PTTEP AA to support the development of a suite of Subsea and Pipeline Engineering Design Standards, for use on its future Australian and international developments.

The work, which commences immediately with the development of a GAP analysis and framing study, is expected to be completed in Q1 2013.

August 2012 - Bombora-ESP supports BurnVoir with independent assessment of Domgas expansion.

Bombora-ESP has been commissioned by Burnvoir Corporate Finance to provide an independent assessment of the works and costs associated with the potential expansion of an existing DOMGAS facility to supply gas to a confidential Australian client.

The study, which will evaluate offshore and onshore upgrades, will allow Burnvoir Corporate Finance to advise their ultimate client on long-term energy requirements for their facilities, and will ultimately facilitate discussions with domestic gas providers.

July 2012 - Bombora-ESP supports BHP Billiton with Onshore Construction Support.

Bombora-ESP has won a contract with BHP Billiton to provide onshore construction support services for the Macedon project.

Bombora-ESP will support BHP Billiton with the provision of Quality Coordination for the construction of the Macedon onshore gas plant.

July 2012 - Bombora-ESP supports Granherne with deepwater pipeline expertise on a confidential NWS development.

Bombora-ESP is supporting Granherne with a concept screening study for a deepwater (+1500m) North West Shelf development.

The four month study will examine multiple development concepts, grouped within a number of themes.

Bombora-ESP’s scope is to:

    • Examine enabling technologies that may permit/preclude concept options
    • Provide definition to the concepts to identify risks and permit cost estimating, by:
      • developing system architecture
      • producing a preliminary materials selection philosophy
      • producing deepwater intelligent pigging methodologies
      • performing pipeline and flowline routing assessments (including routing through significant geohazards such as escarpments) with 300km+ export pipeline to shore.
      • defining wall thicknesses (including deepwater optimisations)
      • performing on-bottom stability assessments
      • assessing expansion and global buckling
      • creating a free-span correction philosophy
      • developing construction and installation strategies (pipelay, installation, tie-ins, shore crossings, etc)
      • developing pre-commissioning philosophies

Bombora-ESP will perform the scope of work in Granherne’s office to facilitate interfaces between the various project disciplines

July 2012 - Bombora-ESP signs ad-hoc engineering support contract with Atkins.

May 2012 - Bombora-ESP wins a contract with BHP Billiton to provide offshore construction support for the Macedon Project.

Bombora-ESP has won a contract with BHP Billiton to provide offshore construction support services for the Macedon project.

Project Description: The Macedon project involves four offshore production wells supplying a wet gas pipeline to an onshore gas treatment plant to be constructed at Ashburton North, 17 kilometres south west of Onslow. The domestic gas plant will have a design capacity of 200 million standard cubic feet per day. A sales gas pipeline will be connected to the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline for sale to the domestic gas market in Western Australia.

The Macedon Project includes the following offshore components:

    • Four subsea wells, tied back to the pipeline via flexible flowlines and diverless connectors.
    • 20-inch 77km carbon steel wet gas pipeline, which includes:
      • Pipeline end manifold (which will be stalked onto the pipeline),
      • inline tee (and protection structure),
      • heavy wall/coating sections (to enhance on-bottom stability)
    • EH control umbilical from shore

McDermott's will be installing the offshore facilities using a variety of vessels (the DB30, NO102 and NO105).

Bombora-ESP will support BHP Billiton with the provision of offshore construction representatives for the pipelay and SURF activities.

April 2012 - Bombora-ESP supports IKM Testing on the Gorgon project.

Bombora-ESP has won a contract with IKM Testing to provide Engineering and Fabrication Management services for the Jansz 3.5-inch down-line deployment system and manifold in 1350m of water.

The system is part of IKM Testing's scope of work on the Gorgon project, under a subcontract to Allseas.

Project Description: The Gorgon project is one of the world's largest natural gas projects and the largest single resource natural gas project in Australia's history. The Gorgon Project will develop the Gorgon and Jansz/Io gas fields, located within the Greater Gorgon area, about 130 kilometres off the north-west coast of Western Australia.

April 2012 - Bombora-ESP to exhibit at AOG 2013.

The Australasian Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference, known as AOG, will be held on the 20-22 February, 2013. In the past few years it has broken records and become Australia's largest oil and gas exhibition, with over 450 exhibitors from 16 countries. In additional to the exhibition there will also be a conference, oil and gas careers day and a variety of networking opportunities. The Subsea Australasia Conference will again be run in conjunction with AOG. With over 11,000 attendees in 2012, AOG truly is a 'must attend' exhibition and conference.

March 2012 - Bombora-ESP supports SapuraClough on Berantai project in Malaysia.

Bombora-ESP has been engaged by SapuraClough to provide support on the Berantai project, developing installation procedures for the FPSO floating hose hook-up.

Project Description: The Berantai Field is to be jointly developed by PETRONAS and Petrofac. The field is located in Block PM 309, approximately 195km from Kemaman, offshore Terengganu.

The project comprises the Berantai Wellhead Platform (BWHP-A) and adjacent FPSO linked by subsea flowlines. The FPSO will export gas via a new subsea pipeline to a third party Platform ANDR-A in the ANGSI facilities. Oil from the cargo tanks of the FPSO will be exported via floating hose to shuttle tanker.

Phase 1 of the development intends to commence first gas production in early 2012.

March 2012 - Bombora-ESP supports KBR on the QCLNG project.

Bombora-ESP has been engaged by KBR Brisbane to support them in the development of their detailed design deliverables for the QCLNG Narrows crossing.

Project Description: Queensland Gas Company (QGC) is developing the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) Project to export Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) derived from Coal Seam Gas (CSG) from the Surat Basin. The LNG plant is to be located on Curtis Island, near Gladstone, Queensland.

CSG will be extracted from several production areas and transported by a 42-inch pipeline to the LNG Plant.

The pipeline route includes a 12km narrows crossing (from the mainland to Curtis island), which will be installed with, and alongside, the APLNG 42-inch pipeline.

February 2012 - Bombora-ESP signs ad-hoc engineering support contract with Granherne.

Bombora-ESP has recently signed an agreement with Granherne to provide subsea, pipeline and construction expertise to help supplement and enhance Granherne's subsea/pipeline capabilities in Perth.

February 2012 - Bombora-ESP and PAME sign Memorandum of Understanding to offer design/fabrication services.

Bombora-ESP and PAME have recently signed a memorandum of understanding.

This memorandum of understanding allows Bombora-ESP and PAME to jointly bid on the design and fabrication of spoolpieces, subsea structures and general fabrication.

This turnkey solution allows our clients to minimise their risk and fast-track the project whilst reducing contract management and interface requirements.

February 2012- Bombora-ESP achieves ISO 9001 certification.

Bombora-ESP's Quality Management System has been certified by Bureau Veritas as meeting/exceeding the requirements of ISO 9001.

The system, part of an integrated QHSE system, has been developed and implemented with a focus on ensuring that our service meets our clients requirements in a cost effective and timely manner, by:

    • Improving performance and productivity; and
    • Improving coordination.

One of the biggest challenges with implementing such a system is ensuring that the system is used by all employees and that all employees are using the correct/current procedures. Bombora-ESP has addressed this issue by using the companies intranet to control and store all company procedures, forms and guidelines.

December 2011- Bombora-ESP supports Australian EPC Contractor.

Bombora-ESP has won a scope of work from an Australian EPC contractor to provide construction support for the development of method statements and supporting documentation for the installation of subsea infrastructure.
